Back in June 2014, APi Distribution heard about an amazing opportunity to help out with “Homes for Wounded Warriors”, a non-profit foundation started by former Vikings defensive end, Jared Allen.
Wounded by an IED while in Afghanistan, Sgt. Colin Faust had multiple injuries to his left arm and right leg, along with the loss of his left leg. Upon returning to Mankato, Minnesota, Faust’s home was not equipped for comfort or wheelchair accessibility. However, it was then that Jared Allen and his organization would contribute their first home project to accommodate Faust’ needs.
With the help of several community members, organizations and local businesses, a new handicap-accessible home would be built to better suit the needs of Faust. Such features on the list include an elevator, widened hallways and doors, along with a custom kitchen and bathrooms.
APi Distribution is honored to have contributed to a great cause by donating insulation for Faust’s new home. We are thankful for partners like Homeco Insulation to introduce this opportunity.
On February 7th, Sgt. Colin Faust was given the keys to his new home, followed by proposing to his girlfriend- she said YES!
