Volunteering with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity

9/15/2015

Last Week, dozens of APi Group, Inc. employees volunteered their time, in Crystal, MN, with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH), to repair the home of U.S. Army veteran, Jason Jones. Jones, 33, is a single father who raises his son, and has also taken in his two younger brothers. One of Jason’s brothers is a veteran suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.

Jason has recently started college to provide a better future for his son, but being back in school has left him with no money and very little time to work on any outside home repairs.  He needed help, and a friend suggested Habitat’s A Brush With Kindness program (ABWK). Shortly after ABWK connected with Jason, the repairs began. APi employees, and other volunteers have been helping to give Jason’s home a new roof, new gable treatment, repair the trim and siding, as well as a fresh coat of paint.

After a few days of working on the home, APi volunteers thought the garage needed something else. Kirk Chalmers, an employee and member of the Military Rotation Program, reached out to our good friends at Twin Cities Garage Door Company, and they donated a new garage door. Wow, did that give the garage a great new look!

APi employees have been volunteering with TCHFH for several years now, and it’s a volunteer opportunity that many employees enjoy taking part in. If you are interested to learn more about how your company can help veterans, other families who need help to maintain their homes, or the opportunity to experience the powerful impacts of homeownership, please contact Twins Cities Habitat for Humanity.
